Glowing Shells, 2024

Neogene fossil shells of cone snails appear bone white to the naked eye. Ultraviolet light causes the shells to fluoresce, revealing the original coloration patterns. These specimens range from around 3.5 to 2.0 million years old and are photographed with thanks to the Paleontological Research Institute.
